Do you want a portrait of you beloved dog made by Maarten Wetsema? Register by sending an e-mail to lisa@foam.nl .
State your name and which day has your preference (24^th of May or the 25^th of May between 11:00 and 17:00). Maarten Wetsema will take the time to make several photo’s of your dog and will make a print after selecting the best photograph. Size 24x24cm, costs €100,-.

Fascinated by pets from the early days of his education onwards, Maarten Wetsema (1966, Uithoorn, NL) has set a new scene in portrait photography. Wetsema succeeds in making sublime portraits of pets, mostly dogs. But his portraits are not funny, annoying, everyday or cheesy portraits. Rather, Wetsema as an affectionate professional makes portraits that are a poetic registration of the pet.

Despite their sometimes weird position, the dogs reveal total acquiescence, the natural manner of which can only be attributed to Wetsema mastering the scene. Successfully adding emotional layers, Wetsema creates an atmosphere of stunning contrasts, his subjects balancing on the borders of consciousness, universally human, framed in perfectionist symmetry. Having created a new dimension in photography, Wetsema’s dogs tell us more than words ever can say.

Maarten Wetsema studied at the Art Academy of Arnhem. In 2004 he exhibited at Comme des Garçons in Tokyo. In 2005 he took part in Photo London and the KunstRai in Amsterdam, in 2006 his work was exhibited in both France and Miami, USA. His work is part of numerous national and international collections of private parties, companies and museums.
